I’d add it’s not just about ecology it’s about social justice.

5% of UK population controls 40% of all wealth/resources. There are over 200,000 millionaires owning London property making it unaffordable for millions of others.

Political leaders need to address this extreme inequality yet too many are linked to corporations who pay lip service to community support outside shareholders.

UK has 50,000 people owning assets worth between £10M and £30M, 30,000 people with assets over £30M plus 150 with billionaire status (over £1000 M).

Taxing excessive unspent hoarded wealth with just 2% pa would not drive them abroad as their compound investments (over 5% pa) grows wealth way beyond ability to spend.

30% UK children live in poverty levels. People cannot afford homes. London has over 10,000 sleeping on streets. Social inequality is a problem which can be addressed by small taxes on excess asset owners and releasing hoarded wealth for ecology conservation then also becomes feasible.
